Integrated infrastructure development: paving and sanitation in Ajaydin and Hay Al-Hakim

The challenge

Paving over a new network settles within months if the backfill isn't compacted properly — and then the dispute starts between the network contractor and the paving contractor. Splitting the work between two parties is the cause of the problem, not its consequence.

The approach

  We executed the network, compaction, and paving within one scope under one responsibility — so there is no dispute about who owns the first settlement.

  Rainwater pumping stations were installed to address water pooling, the hardest problem in Basra drainage.

  High-quality Italian coverings were used as the contract specified, not a local equivalent.

The outcome

Completed in 2023 with integrated paving and sanitation across two residential areas, and pumping networks addressing rainwater pooling.
